Details
Our analyst role will provide data procurement, analysis, modeling expertise and be the hub of information for the transportation department. Analysis work performed will support ongoing transportation system monitoring, capacity planning, forecasting and the reporting of key performance metrics. This position will work closely with the Director, Managers, Associates, Buyers, vendors, and carriers to ensure smooth and accurate deliveries. You will also evaluate our risk potential from a loss and damage perspective as well as from a provider and capacity constraint view. An individual in this position can expect to be critically involved in processes surrounding our Oracle transportation management system as well as other database applications including claims and vendor compliance. Position Accountabilities:
Assures that opportunities for operational process improvements, supply chain cost reductions and customer service enhancements are identified, evaluated, quantified and presented to Logistics Management/ Senior Management.
Assures the creation, deployment and monitoring of activity reports, key performance indicators, supply chain metrics and supplier score cards.
Assures that necessary application systems are in place to accurately track and display issues on both a summary and detail level for inbound and outbound flow, delivery tracking, vendor compliance, freight claims and special projects.
Assures the development of strategic objectives related to the procurement and management of transportation providers.
Position Essential Functions:
Assumes the role of analytical lead on key logistics and supply chain projects. Makes recommendations to improve processes using process modeling, data flow analysis, and benchmarked best practices.
Analyze inbound and outbound transportation expense to determine static and dynamic routing opportunities.
Completes ad- hoc transportation reporting for special projects.
Conducts freight studies and evaluates metrics to determine compliance to standards and opportunities for improvement.
Analyze root causes of service failures and develop plans to reduce or eliminate these occurrences in collaboration with transportation managers and logistics associates.
Develop strategic and tactical performance metrics and publish at agreed intervals. Assist in the creation and publication of transportation financials.
Requirements
Educational Preference:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, or related area preferred.
Job Experience Preference:
At least three years relevant logistics work experience
Possesses knowledge of all modes of transportation and their attributes (LTL, Truckload, Parcel, Air, Ocean)
Knowledge of distribution center operations
Experience in data analysis, modeling, forecasting or strategic planning
Software/Hardware Experience Preference:
Advanced PC skills, MS Access, MS Excel, Transportation Management System (TMS), relational database skills, Solid data analysis skills
