Job Description:
The Logistics Planner will manage the physical flow of products within the Famous Footwear supply chain. Planners manage the product flow to and from our distribution centers. Ideal candidate will have strong communication skills as they will be constantly communicating with vendors, buyers, allocators and customers. Must be comfortable working in ambiguous situations. Position Accountabilities:
Assures transportation-planning activities are completed timely and cost effectively for all domestic, international and inter-company shipments.
Assures accurate and timely reporting of key performance indicators.
Assures cost-effective carrier and mode selection and effective management of equipment pool to maximize service and equipment utilization.
Assures effective management of carrier activity at the distribution centers, pool providers and vendor locations using the transportation management system (TMS).
Assures the development and execution of logistics strategies and continuous improvement of logistics processes.
Position Essential Functions:
Ensures effective usage of TMS for freight tendering, carrier coordination and load acceptance.
Arranges timely transportation flow while minimizing expenses.
Maintains frequent and critical internal and external contacts with buyers, vendors, and pool providers.
Formulates timely resolution of issues related to capacity, system utilization, and supply chain performance.
Manages carrier relationships, performance and KPIs’ in conjunction with Transportation Manager.
Become cross-trained on all aspects of planning, all directions, and all facilities.
Examine carrier costs and services, identify and recommend improvements.
Requirements
Position Qualifications:
Educational Preference:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business from a four-year college or university
Job Experience Preference:
Min one to three years relevant logistics work experience
Knowledge of transportation process, all modes (import and domestic)
Knowledge of distribution center operations
Software/Hardware Experience Preference:
Strong communications skills in written and verbal form.
Strong PC skills, MS Office Products, Transportation Management System (TMS),
Solid data analysis skills along with proficiency in Excel and Access
Working knowledge of the internet
