NASSTRAC Names 2012 Members of the Year

MINNEAPOLIS, MN— NASSTRAC recently announced that Gail Rutkowski, president of Wabash Worldwide Logistics, has been named the 2012 “NASSTRAC Member of the Year.” Each year, this honor is bestowed upon an individual transportation executive who has demonstrated personal leadership, commitment, and dedication to the industry as well as to the association. NASSTRAC provides advocacy, education, provider relations, and networking for professionals involved in all areas of transportation, ranging from full truckload and LTL to containerization and global logistics.

“Gail has extensive experience and expertise in transportation operations and management, said NASSTRAC president Doug Easley. “She has consistently leveraged that expertise and her passion for the industry as an active member of our association.” He noted that Rutkowski has served on the NASSTRAC executive committee for several years, and recently took a significant leadership role this past year when she helped to coordinate the NASSTRAC-led “Stand Up For Trucking” fly-in, which resulted in nearly 175 transportation executives meeting in February with approximately 140 Senators, members of Congress, and aides on critical transportation advocacy issues.

In addition, Rogers Luna, vice president of Sales for Averitt Express, was named the recipient of the 2012 “NASSTRAC Associate Member of the Year.” Each year, the association presents this award to an individual from the service provider community who has shown leadership, continued commitment to the industry, and support of the association. “Luna epitomizes what we need from every provider that’s involved,” said Easley. “He consistently participates in NASSTRAC conferences and regional events, he has ensured his company consistently supports the association, and he has worked to get new shippers engaged. We rely on active members like Rogers who help to successfully build NASSTRAC into a community of shippers and providers in the transportation industry.”

Both awards were announced April 30 at NASSTRAC's Logistics Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla., where more than 450 transportation decision-makers and providers gathered to network and discuss critical transportation issues in the industry.
