  NASSTRAC Witnesses Changes to YRC
   
  YRC shares perspectives on how NASSTRAC members have seen changes in the organziation this spring.
   
  NASSTRAC members witnessed YRC make transportation history three times in the spring of 2009.

The first milestone was the integration of Roadway and Yellow Transportation to form YRC. Then came the naming of Roadway as the NASSTRAC Carrier of the Year in the national category for the 19th straight year. The third historic moment came as YRC employees committed to deliver faster service and better solutions to every NASSTRAC member in 2009 and beyond.

The integration aimed to create a transportation services provider that is more reliable and easier to engage than any other in the marketplace."We designed our network to help customers succeed," said Mike Smid, president of YRC.

He added, "We have the most comprehensive network in North America, the most experienced transportation professionals and the most flexible, efficient solutions to meet any supply chain need. The YRC network is built for precision and predictability, so our customers are assured of meeting the needs of their customers."

With nearly 450 service centers, YRC offers about 100 more service centers than either Roadway or Yellow did individually. The single network provides 21,000 additional direct service points and positions YRC 20 percent closer to customers in major markets. This enables quicker pickups and deliveries, increased flexibility, and reduced carbon emissions.

Combining the best of Yellow and Roadway to create YRC took a tremendous amount of planning, coordination and effort. The result is unique to the marketplace: a unified team with large-shipment expertise, a comprehensive network with capabilities from next-day to transcontinental to intermodal, and more service centers closer to more customers than other providers.

The employees of YRC expect to make more history by delivering confidence to NASSTRAC members with more reliability and precision for every shipment.
