Transportation Outsourcing Subject of NASSTRAC Seminar

MINNEAPOLIS, MN— NASSTRAC recently announced it will hold a seminar for transportation and logistics professionals who have a need to better understand outsourcing trends and practices. The NASSTRAC Seminar will take place September 12-13, 2007, in Half Moon Bay, Calif., near San Francisco.

“Considering that total global 3PL revenues last year were more than $370 billion, outsourced logistics services continue to represent a significant portion of overall logistics and supply chain expenditure,” said Chris Norek Ph.D., NASSTRAC’s education chair. “Because this continuing trend is a significant factor that is changing the face of the industry, we felt it important to provide an educational forum for transportation professionals to learn about emerging trends and best practices in outsourcing.”

Presenters during this seminar include Jim Molzon, vice president of supply chain transformation for Lenovo, who will discuss how to transform a supply chain with the influence of outsourcing, and NASSTRAC education advisor C. John Langley, Ph.D. of Georgia Institute of Technology, who will unveil key findings and trends highlighted in the 12th Annual Third-Party Logistics Report, which has become an industry benchmark in outsourcing practices.

NASSTRAC president Gail Rutkowski added that the association has chosen to hold a seminar on the West Coast for the second consecutive year because of NASSTRAC’s interest in growing a stronger membership base there. NASSTRAC’s membership is comprised of transportation and logistics professionals who primarily work for manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and distributors. It serves a significant number of members who work for third-party logistics companies as well. Last year, NASSTRAC held a seminar on global logistics as part of its expansion into international transportation and maritime markets.

“As we take these seminars on the road, we’ll keep the content topical, the locations strategic, and will continue to provide top-notch education that’s valuable to the working professional and their organization,” said Norek. This ongoing NASSTRAC seminar series will be critical to the aggressive growth of NASSTRAC as shipper-based trade association that recently broadened its coverage to all modes and market segments of transportation.

Registration is $245 for members or $395 for non-members, which includes all educational sessions, lunch, food/beverage breaks and take-home materials. It also includes annual membership for all who qualify for regular memberships. For more details or to register, visit http://www.NASSTRAC.org or call 952/442-8850 ext. 208.
