Best Practices: Stein Mart's Supply Chain Overhaul Nets Major Savings, Efficiencies
When you closely evaluate your supply chain from end-to-end, sometimes changes can result in major savings and efficiencies. Attend this "best practices" session to learn how Stein Mart, a leading fashion retailer, recently went through this process and did a complete overhaul in its supply chain – saving $20 million a year and creating major transportation and operations efficiencies for its network of 260 stores. - Identified opportunities to reinvent its end-to-end transportation and supply chain for ultimate savings and efficiencies.
- Transitioned from a supply chain relying heavily on small parcel to consolidated LTL and truckload shipments to effectively deliver directly to its stores.
- Created dedicated and pool distribution lanes resulted in significantly reduced transportation and store operating expenses.
- Effectively developed a four-wall supply chain network now comprised of Consolidation Centers and Store Distribution Centers; an inbound transportation network of LTL, truckload, and intermodal carriers; and an outbound network of dedicated fleets and pool distribution companies.
- Created a new vendor support program that created better understanding and communication among providers and resulted in more "floor ready" freight to reduce labor costs at the receiving end.
