Company drops the EXPRESS


Pittsburgh, PA (January 28, 2011) Industry-leading and well-known trucking company, PITT OHIO EXPRESS re-brands in 2011 as services evolve beyond Less-Than-Truckload (LTL). Effective Monday, January 31, 2011 the company removes "express” from its name and launches a new logo and website while maintaining its signature commitment of We’re Always There For You!

In the past six years, PITT OHIO has introduced new transportation services to market such as TRUCKLOAD, SUPPLY CHAIN and most recently a GROUND, or small package, service. By bringing new services to market, PITT OHIO has continued to stay relevant in a fast changing marketplace.

President Charles (Chuck) Hammel III said, "We have made the investment and commitment to take these services to the next level. Therefore, we needed a re-branding effort that was more reflective of what our organization now represents. Although it is a subtle change, we feel it makes a significant statement that we are more than just LTL. Our core attributes and values of reliability, dependability, quality, innovation and drive remain the same. These attributes are part of our DNA and what our customer’s have come to expect from PITT OHIO. This will not change no matter what service we may offer in the marketplace.”

Chief Operating Officer, James Fields added, "We have aggressively opened new markets and created new services for our customers, which has positioned our company as a transportation solutions provider. Our new brand reflects these changes.”

The re-branding process began eighteen months ago with an extensive brand awareness study in which PITT OHIO surveyed its employees and current and potential customers to gain a better understanding of the company’s position in the marketplace.

Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Office Geoffrey Muessig stated, "Through some extensive research, we learned that the word "express” was synonymous with LTL or next-day service. Although we continue with our LTL service today, our modified name and logo better reflect all of the services and capabilities we have to offer our customers.”

In conjunction with the re-branding effort, PITT OHIO is also launching a new website. Chief Information Officer and Chief Financial Officer Scott Sullivan added, "We have streamlined our website to better depict our entire enterprise of services and our goal is to create a more organized shipping experience.”
