The American Trucking Associations
(ATA) has released a new white paper outlining problems with how the Federal
Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Compliance, Safety,
Accountability (CSA) scores are calculated. The research calls into question
the ability of CSA scores to predict safety risk. FMCSA has told shippers to
look up companies’ CSA scores before deciding which carrier to use, but ATA is
worried about the effect that a flawed scoring system is having on the
