On December 3, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) announced that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has signed off on the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) that will allow for the future widening of 75 miles of I-64 from Richmond to Newport News.  Sections of this stretch will be improved as funding is made available. Currently there is $100 million available to widen a section of I-64 in Newport News.
